When found outside, Pharaoh ants don’t need soil to nest. They can be found anywhere that there’s debris or shade. Because they don’t need soil, it makes it easier for them to find their way into buildings, homes, and hospitals.
Pharaoh ants aren’t an aggressive ant but they do spread diseases making it dangerous if they make their way into hospitals. They carry staphylococcus and salmonella.
