Homeowners with lawn care or pest control services often ask “What happens if it rains after my service?”. This is a good question to ask. Did you waste time and money just to have them come back and redo it? You would be surprised at the answer. No, you didn’t waste time or money.
The products Safe Earth Pest Control uses are commercial products that are mixed with a special “sticker” agent. This sticker allows the product to stay in place and not wash away when swept, mopped, or after it rains. If rain is expected for more than 3 non-stop consecutive days and the eaves of your home do not provide enough shelter from the rain, rescheduling is recommended.
It is a possibility that after a pest control treatment and rain, you may experience an increase of bug activity. This is in part due to disturbing the insects’ nest first with a pesticide treatment then here comes the rain to flood out their nest. So where do the bugs go? They may temporarily take shelter inside your home. It may take 2-3 days (depending on the size of insect) for the product to fully take effect on an insect after it crosses the pesticide barrier.
Keep in mind that most of the rain doesn’t hit the treatment on a home anyway! As you can see in the picture, the structure stays pretty dry at the bottom where we apply the product with a sticker. On top of that we also use a waterproof granular product when it may possibly rain. Waterproof!
But, what about your lawn? You just had a lawn treatment done and now it rains. That’s a good thing. Lawn treatments, whether it’s fertilizer, herbicide, grub worm, or fire ant treatments, all need watered in. This will not only save you money on the water bill, but it will also help strengthen your lawn if you’re training your grass to grow deeper roots.
There does come a time when temperatures are too low to spray a liquid treatment so a granule treatment on the outside of the home is placed. Every bug we kill during the winter will save you 30 during the summer! Granule treatments are weather tolerant and do not dissolve when it gets wet. It also maintains its efficacy because it is a slow-release product. Insects eat this type of bait rather than walking across it.
Lastly, remember that you always have a warranty in between treatments on our plans. If you start experiencing a new infestation, give us a call!
